Leningrad Equestrian Statue

Leningrad Equestrian Statue Pin

Istanbul St. Petersburg was Constantinople Leningrad.

Sorry about the crappy scan.

Another souvenir of my father’s trip to the Soviet Union. This is a glazed metal pin, perhaps tin, zinc or aluminum. 3 by 2.1 cm in size. The scan shows it as a slightly warmer color than it is: a slightly green gray. The manufacturer’s logo and the price are stamped on the back: 15 kopeks. I believe this is a statue of Peter the Great, Tsar and founder of St. Petersburg, a.k.a. Leningrad. The sculpted details of this pin are very fine.

The more I look at this one, the more I like it. Whoever sculpted the master did a great job.
