Period Pocket Arabic Dictionary Cover Scan

Scanned this some years ago, thought it might be useful for Indiana Jones / The Mummy / Lovecraft props / LARPing / whatever. Or just look good in a display.

The original was printed in black ink on semigloss red cardstock (softcover / paperback), and the interior pages were newsprint. I think the original was about 4 inches x 5.4 inches x 1 inch thick.

Don’t worry too much about the quality of your printing, because, as you can see, the original was somewhat poor.

Elias1smallNow, here’s the disclaimer: this particular edition was published no earlier than 1971. However, these Elias dictionaries go back to the twenties, and given the simplistic style of this cover, I am of the opinion that it could pass for older, but that ultimate decision is up to you.

  1. I did a search of just “Elias pocket dictionary 1920” and got an ebay link. That book is listed as “possibly 1920s” so take it with a grain of salt; it looks a lot like the 1950s edition. Aside from the embossing the 1970s version looks more “authenticy”, if you know what I mean.
