Firefly: Mal Pistol Ammo Box (Fan-Made Non-Canon)

This is the third version of my non-canonical, fan-made DIY ammo box for Mal’s pistol, the Model 47-A.

Here are two new files, one with the rough paper texture and one without. Note that the box art features a picture of H&K / Dynamit-Nobel G-11 caseless assault rifle ammunition, which may conflict with other items in your display.

I do recommend that both boxes be printed on a light tan card stock, to keep the cut edges and interior looking appropriately colored.

Additionally, this (admittedly unusual) box pattern is taken from a paperclip box. I chose it because it requires no glue, only careful assembly. You are welcome to ignore the fiddly cut lines in the narrow sides and simply glue the side flaps to the interior if you so choose.

Warmest regards from Copper Hill Arms, Petersburg, Lilac.

Problem-Solver Shirt Design

This is an original design by me, inspired by a certain space western TV show. The Chinese says “Problem Solver,” as best as I am able to determine (thank you, Google).

On top is the ‘weathered / vintage / worn’ version of the art on the royal blue heather tee. In the second row, from left to right, is the ‘new’ version of the art on the regular ‘royal blue’ tee, the ‘worn’ art on royal heather close-up, and the ‘new’ art on the teal tee.

Available wherever finer space-western tees are sold:

Firefly: Jayne’s “Perfect Cat” Shirt Replica

One of the graphic designers for Firefly posted some concept art for Jayne’s shirts online. All the designs seen in the show and film have been replicated, I think, but not the unused designs…

Above is my replica of the “Perfect Cat” shirt art, on two different royal blue tees from TeePublic. Below is the original concept art:

Firefly - Jayne Cobb's T-shirts

Mine should be very accurate, though since this was never made(?), there’s no ‘hero’ to compare it to. I found the tiger head image, counted the number of tiles in the mosaic, then vectorized the image and manually shifted the rows and columns apart. And redrew the Chinese text by hand. A lot of tedious manual work. I suspect he used some kind of proprietary Photoshop plug-in for the pixel effect.

Available here at TeePublic, forever, I hope.

Coming Soon: a Firefly ‘Concept’ Shirt!

I’m  in the middle of recreating a shirt that was apparently designed for Jayne, but never made for the show, nor after the fact, as far as I can tell.

I was originally planning to spoof the “Troublemaker” shirt, and I will eventually get to that as well, but this other is closer to completion.

Shirts like the above at TeePublic. Red is traditional, but I have enabled a few complementary colors, in case you would like to stand out from the crowd. It’s got a kind of Jayne-like vibe to it, I think. The big text says “Spring Festival” in Traditional Chinese.

Also available are greeting cards with a similar design, at Zazzle:

These cards have the added text “恭喜發財,” which is the common “Gung Hei Fat Choi,” loosely ‘Congratulations and be prosperous.’ They are totally blank on the inside, but the back is branded by Zazzle. Additionally, Zazzle will let you add text to the card before purchasing, in case you would like to put a typeset message inside your cards.

Shirts Added to TeePublic, Still on Sale!

You have 6.5 hours of $14 tees left. I have added approximately two dozen shirts to my TeePublic store:

For Sale: New Firefly Fan Silliness: SF Cargo

I present to you the ballistic missile submarine Red October my original creation: the SF Cargo company!

SF Cargo Greenai

What, did you think there was only one shipping company in the Verse?

Look carefully, and you will notice many subtle jabs at TG Freight, who, I believe are entirely too chummy with the HATED ALLIANCE. And some silly jokes. I propose that a few Independent pilots, using war surplus craft, created SF Cargo to earn a living after the war. I am drawing a deliberate parallel with Flying Tiger Line.

Here are the current products for sale:

I’m not terribly fond of the horizontal logo, but if you needed a rectangular sticker rather than a square one, here it is.
