Back to the Future (1985): Marty’s Art in Revolution Pin

Replica vector graphics by me. Assuming the size by Zazzle is close (1.25 inches?), I think this is a good option for anyone looking to make a BTTF 1 Marty costume, or just for fans of Constructivism:

But wait! There’s more!

The Expanse: Amos Burton’s Pin

Amos has a silver-tone devil / demon head pin on his jumpsuit, and a matching tattoo on his arm. I’ve seen many that are close, but none I’m convinced is “the” pin. Retouched screencaps & stills below the jump:

Elementary: Sherlock’s Lapel Pin(s)

Taken from hi-res promo stills:

And then there’s this one (also from a promo still):

Which may be the same pin, desaturated or in silver. Or not. The three above appear to be the Arethusa coin / pin / replica.

There are at least two other pins, however: The much-rumored Royal Marines pin and what appears to be a gold Sovereign:

Gold (?) full Sovereign coin / replica / pin on the left, Royal Marines pin on the right. The above images have been taken from promo stills / screencaps. Below are examples of the ‘real’ found objects, as seen on the internet:

Again, because I do not know their exact size, I cannot be sure what they are (pins, cufflinks, tie tacks, replicas, etc).

Congo: Captain Wanta

CaptainWanta

“I like that, Miss Ross – You surprise him!”

Happy birthday to Delroy Lindo, who’s been in a surprising number of things, including Gone in 60 Seconds, The Cider House Rules, Up (as the voice of Beta), Romeo Must Die, The Core, an episode of The Simpsons, Broken Arrow, Get Shorty, and so on, but whom I will always remember as the ‘complicated’ Captain Wanta from Congo – unbelievably uncredited, brief, but played with great verve!

Regrettably, I am unable to ID the pin he wears:

It appears to me to be a bird in front of a sun. I suspect it’s a foreign air force pin of some sort. He also seems to wear similar but much smaller pins on his epaulettes, best seen in the alternate angle. They do not appear to be the standard US captain’s bars, nor the Belgian captain’s insignia:

The Hunt for Red October: Soviet Ambassador’s Lapel Pin

The Soviet Ambassador Lysenko (excellently played by Joss Ackland) is wearing a red, flag-shaped lapel pin. The President’s National Security Advisor Mr. Pelt (also excellently portrayed by Richard Jordan) is likewise wearing a US flag lapel pin.

However, the ambassador’s pin is not a simple Soviet Union national flag. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be emblazoned with the text “ВЕРХОВНЫЙ СОВЕТ СССР,” “Supreme Soviet of the USSR.” This was the most powerful legislative body in the Soviet Union.

Similar (almost certainly replica) pins can be found for about $15 on Ali Baba, or for ludicrously high prices on eBay.

For Sale: New Total Recall 2012 Merch!

I totally recall Total Recall 2012. Turned some more of my recreated art into products, including the lovely Chocolate Boba Tea ad, the Tokonoma logo, and a version of the First Bank of New Asia logo with more 3D bevels and lens flares and such. And the UFB 7 news channel logo.

TR2012sept

Available here. What can I say? I give good wife.

For Sale: New Firefly Fan Silliness: SF Cargo

I present to you the ballistic missile submarine Red October my original creation: the SF Cargo company!

SF Cargo Greenai

What, did you think there was only one shipping company in the Verse?

Look carefully, and you will notice many subtle jabs at TG Freight, who, I believe are entirely too chummy with the HATED ALLIANCE. And some silly jokes. I propose that a few Independent pilots, using war surplus craft, created SF Cargo to earn a living after the war. I am drawing a deliberate parallel with Flying Tiger Line.

Here are the current products for sale:

I’m not terribly fond of the horizontal logo, but if you needed a rectangular sticker rather than a square one, here it is.

For Sale: Graphics from Metropolis (1927)!

I’m a big fan of Metropolis. If you are, too, maybe you’d like to look over my offerings:

metrogallery

I’m especially fond of this one:

M+textshirt

It’s an arrangement of some of the elements found on the banknotes.

Anyway, there are pins and stickers and shirts out the wazoo, and even a shirt for ladies! Of course, you know you can ask me to make a ladies’ shirt with any of the pieces of art you see there. It’s just that the ladies’ shirts have fewer colors and are more expensive than the men’s.  :(
