Firefly: Jayne’s “Perfect Cat” Shirt Replica

One of the graphic designers for Firefly posted some concept art for Jayne’s shirts online. All the designs seen in the show and film have been replicated, I think, but not the unused designs…

Above is my replica of the “Perfect Cat” shirt art, on two different royal blue tees from TeePublic. Below is the original concept art:

Firefly - Jayne Cobb's T-shirts

Mine should be very accurate, though since this was never made(?), there’s no ‘hero’ to compare it to. I found the tiger head image, counted the number of tiles in the mosaic, then vectorized the image and manually shifted the rows and columns apart. And redrew the Chinese text by hand. A lot of tedious manual work. I suspect he used some kind of proprietary Photoshop plug-in for the pixel effect.

Available here at TeePublic, forever, I hope.

Chinese New Year 2016

Shirts like the above at TeePublic. Red is traditional, but I have enabled a few complementary colors, in case you would like to stand out from the crowd. It’s got a kind of Jayne-like vibe to it, I think. The big text says “Spring Festival” in Traditional Chinese.

Also available are greeting cards with a similar design, at Zazzle:

These cards have the added text “恭喜發財,” which is the common “Gung Hei Fat Choi,” loosely ‘Congratulations and be prosperous.’ They are totally blank on the inside, but the back is branded by Zazzle. Additionally, Zazzle will let you add text to the card before purchasing, in case you would like to put a typeset message inside your cards.

For Sale: New Total Recall 2012 Merch!

I totally recall Total Recall 2012. Turned some more of my recreated art into products, including the lovely Chocolate Boba Tea ad, the Tokonoma logo, and a version of the First Bank of New Asia logo with more 3D bevels and lens flares and such. And the UFB 7 news channel logo.
